Bhuj is a city in western Gujarat, India. It is in the Kutch district, which is the largest district in India by area. Bhuj is about 400 km from Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. It is also near the India–Pakistan border area.

Bhuj is close to a small hill called Bhujiyo Dungar, which is about 160 meters high. In earlier times, this hill helped protect the city. Bhuj was founded in 1510 by Rao Hamirji. In 1549, it became the capital of the Kutch kingdom under Rao Khengarji I. Today, Bhuj is an important base for visiting the Kutch region.

The Rann of Kutch Desert Experience is one of the most popular experiences near Bhuj. This place is about 80 km away from Bhuj, near the Dhordo village. The White Rann is a large salt desert. The ground looks white because of salt on the surface.

After the monsoon season, the water dries, and the land becomes dry and cracked. This creates a wide white area that many people like to see.

The Rann Utsav festival is held every year from November to February. During this time, visitors can stay in tent cities. They can enjoy music, dance, local food, and activities like paramotoring.

A full moon night is very popular here. The white land becomes bright under moonlight

Visitors need a permit to enter the Rann area because it is near the international border. The permit can be taken online or at the Bhirandiyara checkpost.

Bhuj is famous for its local crafts and shopping. One popular place is Saraf Bazaar. Here you can buy silver jewelry and traditional Kutchi ornaments.

Many shops in Bhuj sell handmade embroidery items. Suf, Khaarek, and Ahir embroidery are very popular. These designs are made on clothes with thread and small mirror work.

Bandhani is also widely available. It is a tie-dye fabric with small dot patterns on the cloth.

The Ajrakh block printing is performed in surrounding villages such as Ajrakhpur. Natural dyes are used along with intricate patterns in the process.

Another famous craft called Rogan is produced in the village of Nirona. Rogan paintings are created using oil paints.

The Bhuj shopping experience is really great, as one can buy plenty of local products in the small markets. Traveling around Bhuj is very convenient, as destinations are located in close distance to each other.
